Fishing Nots
A fishing knot
my fishing father never
asked me tie,
the liar knot,
hooks the biggest fish
youāve been hooking for,
ādeep within a liar knot
a piece of line has crossed over
another piece,ā
this line youāre using,
slipped from my
tackle box,
without attribution,
though buried in your reel,
bears my name,
āThis will act like a scythe
when the knot is
jerked tight,ā
when the pressureās most on you
the biggest fish of all
does not resist,
truth will out the slackerās knot,
back it lays and plays with you,
(to the Master Poetās credit)
āsaliva allows the twists and
turns to slide over themselves
as the knot is tightened,ā
spitting on your friend
the double not a true fisherman
will never engage.

From @UN_Water:
Human beings are now largely an urban species: for the first time in history, more than half of the worldās population lives in towns, cities and megacities.
Worldwide, it is estimated that almost one-fifth of all urbanites ā over 700 million people ā live without a decent toilet. To put that into context, the queue for people waiting for toilets in our cities and towns would stretch around the world 29 times.
In WaterAidās new report, Overflowing cities: The State of the Worldās Toilets 2016, they look at some of the worldās worst countries for urban sanitation, and some of the jobs that are created when the challenge is addressed head-on.
I am so psyched to see Elephant Revival with the Colorado Symphony next Saturday. Here’s an interview with Bonnie Paine from LiveForLiveMusic.com. Here’s an excerpt:
L4LM: Another thing that seems to connect a majority of the songs you write is the element water. Is that on purpose as well?
BP: Yeah, absolutely. I look for water places everywhere we go if I have time. Those are the easiest places, when I am writing, to let it flow, so to speak. I listen for melodies in the water. Whether itās the way streams bubble, or the river rushes or the ocean ebbs and falls or rain fallsā¦there are patterns that you can hear that can repeat themselves.
It can become a melody that is ingrained in your surroundings, and it is something a lot of people can relate to. I want to draw from those places when I am writing because it is something everyone can relate to. And water is life.
Water is the main ingredient for any type of creativity, the creation of life.
